Blanche Scharf
Artist's Statement
I believe we
each have creativity bestowed by God and we need to explore that aspect
of ourselves to travel a spiritual path. The process of creating art
makes me listen to those inner voices that speak only to me in a
completely unique way.
I have a
soulful connection with women who choose and wear my jewelry.
Biography
Blanche Scharf first had a
desire to learn beading techniques when she wanted to make a special
gift for her sister. Plain beading and assemblage soon led to working
with polymer clay and making pendants to be used with beads. Bead shows
and subscriptions to beading magazines inspired Blanche to continue
pursuing her unique pieces.
When she learned about
Precious Metal Clay, Blanche bought a number of instruction books by
well-known artists and authors, CeCe Wire and Tim McCreight. After
experimenting on her own, she pursued certification through the PMC
Connection and completed both Level I and Level II. In October, 2006,
she will complete another certification program offered by Rio Grande.
Now, Blanche makes unique
pieces for sale at Yates House Fine Art and Craft Gallery and the Tides
Inn in Irvington, Virginia.
In addition, she welcomes
the challenge of accepting commissions to create unique pieces in
particular sizes, textures and colors.
