Artist's Message

Born and raised in England, I received an education in Art and Design and earned the National Diploma in Design. I made my living for most of my career as a shoe designer in England, Ireland and the States - we immigrated in 1971. (‘Keen Footwear’ by the way, is the creation of our son, Martin)

I have always painted, mostly abstracts in oil and acrylic. Now retired, my wife and I spend most winters on our sailboat in the Bahamas where I am constantly delighted by the wonderful colors of those waters, and I realize that what I have always tried to express in my art more than anything else, is an appreciation of COLOR. To try to convey my enjoyment of it I have used water color in some straightforward renderings of a particular scene. But I have also turned to some of the techniques I developed when making abstracts to try to realize more of a sense of “being there” in some other works in acrylic on canvas.
